Welcome to A Star Art! I’m Julie, and I’m proud to share my passion for art with you. Formerly a Creative Director, I’ve spent the last 20 years helping students develop their creative potential and strengthen their artistic skills.
Art sessions are personalised to you, encouraging creativity, curiosity, and individuality. As both a teacher and mentor, I place real importance on student wellbeing, creating a space where you feel comfortable and able to grow in confidence, while still pushing your work towards the highest possible grade.
I work with students in GCSE and A Level Fine Art, Graphics, and Photography, supporting all aspects of their work.
At A Star Art, it’s about enjoying the process and creating work that feels truly your own.

Sharpen your pencil. Sharpen your skills!
Teaching art is a real joy for me.
I believe mastering your skills starts with drawing and tonal work, building a strong foundation to create depth and life in your work. From there, you’ll explore a range of mediums including acrylics, watercolour, and oil painting. I’ll guide you through techniques like oil pastels and coloured pencils, helping you experiment, grow in confidence, and find your own style.
Seeing these skills become second nature for you is incredibly rewarding. My aim is to help you unlock your potential and develop a lasting love for creativity.

Level up your
A level!
A Level Fine Art is where your work becomes your own. From the starting point, whether a theme, word or idea, I help you shape a project that feels personal and thoughtful.
I support your work from early research and experimentation through to a resolved final outcome, building clear progression throughout. The focus is on confident decisions, developing your visual language, and creating a cohesive body of work. You stay organised and on track, with the aim of achieving a top grade and a portfolio you are proud of.
Guided Creative workshops with Art and Soul
My one day adult creative workshops and retreats are designed to support holistic wellbeing while encouraging deeper personal creativity through painting. Each session begins with a gentle guided meditation to calm the mind, ground your energy, and create space for self expression. With full guidance throughout, these experiences offer a restorative blend of creativity, reflection, and relaxation, allowing art to become both a healing practice and a meaningful journey of personal discovery.
A* Reviews
I feel truly humbled to have worked with such talented and inspiring young students throughout their creative journeys. Supporting them as they grow in confidence, develop their skills, and discover their own unique artistic voices is an absolute privilege. Every student brings something individual, and being part of that process, helping guide, encourage, and nurture their potential, is incredibly rewarding. Watching them overcome challenges, push boundaries, and achieve results they are proud of is why I remain so passionate about teaching.

Julie was an incredible support to my son during his A Level journey after changing schools post GCSE, while also managing ADHD. She offered far more than art tuition, providing patience, encouragement, and a truly personalised approach.
Her ability to bounce ideas back and forth, encourage self reflection, and help him maintain focus gave him both confidence and direction during a challenging period. Julie’s creative insight, dedication, and unwavering support helped him grow not only as an artist but as a person.
We couldn’t have asked for a more inspiring mentor.
